In TallyPrime / Tally.ERP 9, when you import masters or vouchers and some data does not get imported correctly, Tally creates an "Exception Report" (called Masters with Incomplete Information or Vouchers with Incomplete Information). These exceptions are temporary until you either correct or delete them.
Here’s how you can delete exceptions created while importing data in Tally:
1. Open Tally and Check Import Exceptions
After importing data (Masters / Vouchers), Tally shows a summary with successful and failed imports.
If there are any issues, Tally generates Exception.
2. Access Exception Reports
From Gateway of Tally, press:
Alt + O → This opens the Exception menu. You will see options like:
Masters with Incomplete Information
Vouchers with Incomplete Information
3. Open the Exception Type
Select the relevant exception (Masters or Vouchers).
Tally will list all the entries that were not imported properly.
4. Decide Action for Each Exception
You have two choices:
✅ Option A: Correct & Save
Highlight the entry.
Open it by pressing Enter.
Fill missing details (e.g., Ledger, Cost Centre, Group).
Press Ctrl + A to save.
❌ Option B: Delete the Exception
Highlight the incorrect entry.
Press Alt + D (Delete).
Tally will confirm with “Delete?” → Press Enter.
The entry will be removed from exceptions.
5. Repeat Until Exceptions are Cleared
Go through all exception reports.
Once corrected or deleted, the exception reports will be empty.
⚡ Shortcuts Recap
Alt + O → Exception Reports
Enter → Edit exception entry
Ctrl + A → Save corrected entry
Alt + D → Delete entry
✅ Best Practice: Always try to correct and save exceptions instead of deleting, especially for vouchers, to maintain accurate books. Delete only when the entry is not required.
